KOTA SAMARAHAN (Sept 30): An unemployed man was arrested for alleged possession of drugs after he was spotted driving in a suspicious manner near Kampung Tanah Putih here today.
Kota Samarahan police chief DSP Jaimi Husin said a team from the district’s Crime Prevention and Community Safety Division stopped the 23-year-old man around 2pm and conducted an inspection of the vehicle and his belongings.
“A check of the suspect’s bag uncovered a transparent plastic packet containing substance believed to be methamphetamine, weighing 12g and worth an estimated RM1,320,” he said in a statement.
Jaimi said upon being brought to the district police headquarters, the suspect was subjected to a urine test which found him positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
“The suspect also possessed prior drug-related records,” he added.
He said police will apply for a remand order against the suspect for further investigation under Section 39A(1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
“The public is called to continue channelling information to the police, especially involving drugs, so that prompt action can be taken,” said Jaimi.
