MIRI (March 17): The Road Transport Department (JPJ) Sarawak is stepping up efforts to ensure a safe “balik kampung” journey as the Hari Raya Aidilfitri exodus begins this week.
Sarawak JPJ director Norizan Jili conducted a hands-on inspection at the Miri Bus Terminal on Monday, personally overseeing vehicle safety checks under the Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2026 operation.
During the visit, Norizan assessed compliance levels among public service vehicles, ensuring that buses are roadworthy before ferrying passengers to their hometowns for the festive season.
He also took time to engage with passengers and visitors, sharing road safety tips and urging the public to prioritise safety and adhere to traffic regulations throughout their journeys.
Acting JPJ Miri branch head Yusuf Andan was also present during the inspection.
