KUCHING: Road Transport Department (JPJ) has seized four vehicles consisting of two motorcycles, one car, and one lorry for having expired vehicle licences for more than a year in an operation on May 10.
This operation, involving a total of 66 JPJ officers and members, saw the issuance of 22 summonses and Vehicle Detention Notices under section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
During this operation, a total of 1,582 vehicles were inspected and 235 notices were issued for non-compliance with road regulations such as the installation and use of HID lights and strobe lights, driving without a licence, expired driving licences, expired Motor Vehicle Licences (LKM), lack of insurance coverage, registration numbers not adhering to specifications, and other technical violations such as installing accessories that pose a danger.
“The purpose of this operation was to target various offences by road users and to improve compliance with road regulations. It also aimed to ensure that vehicles on the road are safely used and do not endanger other road users.
“Additionally, it aims to raise awareness among road users regarding safety and thereby reduce the risk of accidents and fatalities on the road,” it said on Facebook.
