Kedah is the eFootball champion, after defeating Johor

KUCHING: Kedah has clinched the gold medal in the 21st Malaysia Games (SUKMA) after beating Johor in the eFootball grand finals today (Aug 24).

Kedah’s Muhammad Hariz Hazmi Hakimin defeated Johor’s Mohamad Danish Hakim Nor Azam, securing a 3-1 victory in the best-of-five series.

Johor will have to settle for the silver medal after a hard fought series with the champion.

In the opening match, Johor struck first-blood by securing a 1-0 win with a goal scored in the 14th minute.

The second match, however, was in Kedah’s favour with an 80th minute goal to secure the 1-0 win.

In the third match, Kedah broke the deadlock with a goal scored in the 49th minute after the first half was tightly possessed and strongly defended by both players.

Johor bounced back minutes later and equalised the score at 1-1 in the 53rd minute.

However, Kedah took the third match after scoring a goal in the 83rd minute to take the 2-1 victory.

In the fourth match, neither side were able to capitalise opportunities to open the scoreboard and the match ended in a 0-0 draw in normal time.

Kedah ended Johor’s chance after securing a 1-0 win with the goal scored in the 94th minute of extra time.

Meanwhile, the eFootball’s bronze medal was won by Johor’s Aieman Shaffrie Salleh Huddin after defeating Sarawak’s Hazwan Faiq Hailwan.
