KUCHING (Dec 14): The organisers of Konsert Fenomena Samurai expressed satisfaction following the successful staging of the concert at Stadium Perpaduan last night, describing the event as a meaningful celebration of classic rock music and its enduring appeal.

According to Ikhram Zainuddin, better known as Atom, who represented the organisers Bintang Batu Event and Seri Simfoni Sdn Bhd, the team was grateful that the concert ran smoothly and delivered the experience promised to fans.

“Alhamdulillah, Fenomena Samurai Live in Kuching has come to an end and although the stadium was not 100 per cent full, we are satisfied with the response and the quality of what we presented,” he said when speaking at a press conference after the show.

He added that the enthusiasm of fans who stayed from the beginning until the end of the concert reflected genuine appreciation for the music and overall experience.

“We hope people will not judge by quantity but by quality. What matters is the impact and the enjoyment of those who came,” he said.

Atom also noted that organising a large-scale concert in Sarawak involved considerable challenges, including higher operational costs compared to Peninsular Malaysia.

He also expressed appreciation to the Sarawak government, particularly the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP), as well as the venue management, sponsors, security teams, production crews and members of the media for their support.

Looking ahead, Atom said the Fenomena Samurai brand could be continued in the future, subject to further evaluation and preparation.

“If given the opportunity, we will improve what is lacking and come back with even greater impact. InsyaAllah, Fenomena Samurai will continue,” he said.

Konsert Fenomena Samurai, featuring rock legends XPDC and Search, drew thousands of fans to Stadium Perpaduan, Petra Jaya, creating an electric atmosphere that lasted throughout the night.

Concertgoers from Sarawak and beyond filled the venue, underscoring the enduring influence of both bands in Malaysia’s rock music scene and the continued popularity of classic rock across generations.

XPDC, comprising Izo, Lola, Eddie, Arif and Mamu, opened the concert with a string of evergreen hits that stirred nostalgia among the crowd.

The mood turned even more special when legendary vocalist Ali XPDC made a surprise appearance on stage, triggering thunderous cheers and emotional reactions from fans who did not expect to see him.

The momentum continued with Search taking the stage, as Din and Kid led the band through a set of iconic songs that drew loud sing-alongs and applause, evoking memories of the golden era of local rock music.

Speaking to reporters after the concert, representatives of both XPDC and Search expressed gratitude for the opportunity to return to Kuching and stage a large-scale concert in Sarawak.

Search guitarist Kid thanked all parties involved and the fans who turned up in force, describing the chance to perform again in Kuching as a joyful experience after a long absence.

“I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone involved, especially the audience. It has been a long time since we last came to Kuching, so being part of a large-scale event like this is truly exciting,” he said.

XPDC drummer Lola also conveyed his appreciation to fans who travelled from Sarawak and outside the state, including Brunei, Singapore and several states in Peninsular Malaysia.

“We are very excited to see the extraordinary response from fans in Sarawak. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the MTCP for supporting the organisation of Konsert Fenomena Samurai,” he said.

Meanwhile, XPDC bassist Eddie praised the organisers, Seri Simfoni Sdn Bhd and Bintang Batu Event, for their boldness in bringing a major concert to Kuching.

“In terms of facilities, sound system and the hospitality extended to us in XPDC and Search, everything has been excellent from the beginning until today,” he said.

Overall, Konsert Fenomena Samurai succeeded in creating a memorable night as the pairing of two influential bands united thousands of fans in a shared wave of emotion, further cementing XPDC and Search’s status as legends of Malaysian rock.
