BINTULU (Oct 15): Kova emerged the winner of the ‘Piala Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom Netball Competition’, held in connection with the second edition of the Music and Sports Carnival (Kamus) 2024.
Weasel secured second place, while Sapphire and Sweet Venom shared the third spot.
The two-day event, which took place at Kelab Kidurong Bintulu over the weekend, was jointly organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak and Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus (UPMKB), and was supported by Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd, the Consortium of Borneo Universities, and Remix Technologies.
Sixteen teams took part in the competition, including entries from Bintulu, Miri, Sibu, Mukah, Kuching, and Brunei.
Meanwhile, the prize-giving ceremony was performed by UPMKB director Prof Dr Shahrul Razid Sarbini.
Kamus 2024 director Mohammad Thaqif Tong and event coordinator Veronica Edmund Dana were among those present.
The competition aimed to promote sportsmanship within the community and foster a spirit of unity and physical fitness.
