KUCHING, Jan 21: Kuching International Airport (KIA) now has set up two waiting areas for e-hailing passengers, making pick-up faster and more comfortable.

Sarawak Minister of Transport Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin said the waiting areas allow passengers to sit while waiting for their Grab or other e-hailing vehicles, instead of standing outside or queuing along the roadside.

“Malaysia Airport did one, and Grab did another. The green one is Grab’s. Now passengers have two waiting areas, making it much more convenient,” he said after visiting KIA here today to observe AirBorneo’s operations, including check-in, arrivals and baggage handling.

According to Lee, the improvement is one of several upgrades at KIA in recent years based on public feedback.

“We received complaints from passengers about e-hailing services. Now this issue has been addressed. It’s part of making travel more seamless for our passengers,” he said.

Other recent upgrades at KIA include renovated toilets, improved signage, electronic flight information display systems, and tinted glass at boarding gates to reduce heat.

Lee also highlighted upcoming features for passengers, including a kids’ corner on Level 3 near Starbucks and an iconic photo wall on Levels 1 and 2 for both arrivals and departures.

“It would be better to have a proper place for e-hailing cars and waiting areas, especially for passengers. Now it is much improved,” he added. — DayakDaily
