KUCHING (Sept 28): Over 1,000 participants took part in the inaugural Kuching Green Run at Ithmus Kuching here today.
The event, jointly hosted by the Green Generation, Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), OCI Holdings, and Kuching City North Commission, aimed to foster collaboration and highlight the unique goals of each organisation in creating a meaningful social impact.
The run, covering a 5km route around Ithmus Kuching and culminating at SEDC building’s finishing line, was officiated by Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting.
“Today’s event showcases the strength of unity as we gather to encourage a healthier lifestyle and foster community spirit,” said Ting in his speech prior to the event’s flagging off at 6.30am.
“By combining our strengths, we can pave the way for a more sustainable future for all Sarawakians,” he added.
Also joining in the run was Persatuan Badminton Bumiputera Sarawak advisor Lee Yong Dae whose presence inspired the attendees of the significance of sports in promoting health and community engagement.
The event, in expanding its reach and inclusivity, also featured virtual participation from enthusiastic participants in Bintulu.
