KUCHING (March 5): AirAsia hosted its iftar gathering, ‘Lan Sungkei with AirAsia’, at the Raia Hotel and Convention Centre here tonight, bringing together government officials and media representatives for an evening of fellowship and appreciation during Ramadan.

About 120 guests attended the event, which marked the first time the airline brought both groups together for a Ramadan gathering in the state.

Held in a warm and relaxed setting, the iftar served as a platform for AirAsia to strengthen ties with its strategic partners, including government representatives and media practitioners, while celebrating the spirit of togetherness that defines the holy month.

Guests began arriving as early as 6pm, exchanging greetings and catching up with one another as they waited for the time to break fast.

As the call to Maghrib prayer approached, guests were treated to an extensive Ramadan buffet featuring a variety of international and local flavours.

Among the highlights were Japanese and Middle Eastern dishes, alongside local favourites such as nasi kandar, apam balik and refreshing desserts like ais kacang.

The spread also featured a range of sweet treats, from cakes to traditional kuih including kek lapis, offering guests a taste of both modern and classic desserts.

Beyond the culinary offerings, the gathering reflected the values of gratitude, connection and camaraderie during Ramadan.

‘Lan Sungkei with AirAsia’ is organised annually in both Sabah and Sarawak as a gesture of appreciation to the airline’s partners in Borneo while strengthening relationships across the region.

Also present was Tourism Malaysia Sarawak director Rubiah Tul Adwiyah Md Yusof.
