Lanang Parliamentary Service Centre partners with Agrobank to launch free protection plan for PwDs

SIBU (March 4): The Lanang Parliamentary Service Centre has partnered with Agrobank to launch the ‘Sayangi Lanang: Protection Plan for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) programme, offering an additional layer of protection for PwDs and their families beginning this year.

Lanang MP’s political secretary Stanley Chiew, PwDs often face difficulties in obtaining insurance as many providers are reluctant to offer coverage.

“As a result, they struggle to secure the protection they need.

“In the event of an accident or unforeseen circumstances, they or their family members are left to bear the financial burden alone,” he said in a statement.

After consulting several financial institutions, the Lanang Parliamentary Service Centre decided to collaborate with Agrobank to introduce this dedicated protection plan.

The programme is open to eligible PwDs who are registered voters in the Lanang parliamentary constituency.

Applicants aged between seven and 65 with a single disability may apply by submitting photocopies of their MyKad and PwD card to the service centre.

Successful applicants will not be required to pay any premium, as the full one-year premium will be fully sponsored by Lanang MP Alice Lau.

For applicants aged seven to 17 who are not yet voters, eligibility will be considered if at least one parent is a registered voter in the Lanang constituency.

Under the plan, beneficiaries will receive RM3,000 in the event of natural death, RM10,000 for accidental death, RM1,500 for funeral expenses due to accidental death, up to RM500 for medical costs due to accidental hospitalisation, up to RM300 for ambulance services, and a daily hospital allowance of RM20 for up to 30 days.

Chiew urged PwDs or their guardians to visit the Lanang Parliamentary Service Centre during office hours to submit their applications or obtain more information.

It operates from 8.30am to 12pm and from 1.30pm to 4.30pm on weekdays.
