KUCHING (Oct 16): A fire late last night razed a house at Lorong Keranji, Tabuan Desa here but its three occupants managed to escape unharmed.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said a report on the fire was received at 11.54pm, prompting the deployment of 25 firefighters from the Tabuan Jaya and Batu Lintang stations to the scene.
“The operations commander reported that the fire involved a permanent structure house, which was destroyed, covering an area of 22 x 40 square feet.
“Additionally, three vehicles – a Perodua Kenari (100 per cent burned), a Nissan Grand Livina (80 per cent burned), and a Toyota Hilux (50 per cent burned) – were damaged, along with eight motorcycles, all of which were completely burned,” the department said in a statement.
The three occupants – a 63-year-old man, a 21-year-old man, and a 40-year-old woman – escaped without any injuries.
Firefighters successfully extinguished the flames using a 200-foot hose and two nozzles, drawing water from their fire engines and backup sources.
The cause of the fire and estimated losses are still being ascertained.
