KUCHING: The Permaidani Kampung Boyan, Gersik and Sourabaya (BGS) Business Square is set to become a new tourist attraction.

Sarawak Deputy Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications, Datuk Dr. Abdul Rahman Junaidi, stated that these two food courts would undoubtedly boost the tourism industry in the city of Kuching.

“With landmarks such as the Tiang Bendera Ibu Pertiwi, Boyan Walk, English Tea House, and Musical Fountain, BGS is poised to attract a large crowd. So, it has indeed become an interesting place, drawing tourists.

“And we are striving to ensure that tourists visiting this area stop by the BGS food court to enjoy the delicious cuisine offered by the residents of the village in this area,” he said.

He made these remarks during a press conference immediately after officiating at the reopening of the Permaidani Kampung Boyan, Gersik and Sourabaya Business Square at the Kampung Boyan Food Court here on Wednesday.

Abdul Rahman, who is also responsible for the Kuching North City Commission (DBKU), added that one of the frequent issues in this area was the limited parking space.

“So, what has been suggested by the Kampung JKKK is to open up space in the neighboring villages, especially in Kampung Sourabaya, for parking vehicles and buses.

“Additionally, we have proposed controlling vehicle entry to this area to reduce parking congestion. We will suggest this matter to the Kuching North City Commission for approval because it involves traffic flow into this area.

“So, we will discuss how to create a more effective route for vehicle access to this area,” he said.
