MIRI (Aug 3): The trial test for extinguishing peatland forest fires using a special equipment called ‘Pangolin Tube’ submitted by the Innovative and Creative Group (KIK) of Limbang Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) will be tested here by the Lutong BBP.

According to BBP Lutong chief Henry Jugah in a press statement, his station was chosen for the trial due to the high number of bush and peatland fire cases it has handled.

Prior to the trial test, Henry said BBP Limbang chief Assistant Fire Superintendent Chong Bui Chyan and his team will explain the use of the special equipment, which has been handed over to BBP Lutong.

“I would like to thank the noble efforts by BBP Limbang for selecting and teaching my firefighters to use this equipment, and we certainly hope to use it to the best of our ability,” he said in the statement.

Since the end of last month, the heat wave and public ignorance have caused several bush fires in different locations in the northern part of Miri due to open burning.

Henry stressed that open burning during dry and hot weather can worsen the situation and cause inconvenience to others, especially those with health problems.
