MIRI (March 11): A luxury car was among three vehicles seized during ‘Ops Patuh’ conducted by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) Miri branch on Tuesday after they were found to have expired motor vehicle licenses and no valid insurance coverage.

JPJ Miri said in a statement that a total of 341 vehicles of various categories were inspected during the operation, which was personally observed by Sarawak JPJ director Norizan Jili.

“The inspection uncovered a range of offences, including driving without a valid licence, failure to wear seat belts, using mobile phones while driving, as well as other violations involving vehicle technical requirements,” it said, adding that notices of non-compliance were issued accordingly.

JPJ Miri said Norizan went on the ground to ensure enforcement actions were carried out firmly, with integrity and effectiveness.

“JPJ Sarawak will continue to intensify enforcement activities and will not compromise with any party found to be in violation of road traffic laws,” it said.

Road users were reminded to comply with regulations for the safety of all.
