MA63 allocations sought in Budget 2027

BETONG: Sarawak is hoping matters agreed and discussed under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), including the special grant under Article 112D, will be reflected in Budget 2027.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said allocations are among the key matters requiring attention, particularly the special grant under Article 112D.

“What has been decided, discussed under MA63, should be implemented. There are several special allocations that are needed,” he told a press conference after officiating at the Sarawakku Sayang programme here today (Sept 26).

“I hope it will be included in Budget 2027,” he added.

He was responding to a question on the key matters Sarawak would prioritise regarding its rights under MA63, particularly allocations and revenue sharing, ahead of Budget 2027.

Abang Johari said the special grant under Article 112D was among the matters requiring attention.

He also said the matters discussed and agreed under MA63 needed to be followed through as part of the process.

However, he remained tight-lipped on the specific amount or other allocations he hoped would be included in Budget 2027.
