KUCHING (March 3): KUCHING (March 3): The Technical Committee under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 Implementation Action Council (MTPMA63) held its first meeting of 2026 on Monday to deliberate on outstanding matters related to the implementation of MA63.
The meeting, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof, took place at the Parliament building in Kuala Lumpur.
“Today’s meeting is to obtain feedback from the ministries and federal agencies, as well as the Sabah and Sarawak state governments, on all matters that are still unresolved and the direction that can be taken regarding those issues,” said Fadillah in a Facebook post.
He added that the discussions were vital to ensure pending matters under MA63 could be addressed in a structured and coordinated manner.
“We want to ensure that every outstanding issue is given due attention and that appropriate follow-up actions are identified,” he said.
During the meeting, three working papers were presented by the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, and the Sabah and Sarawak Affairs Division of the Prime Minister’s Department (BHESS, JPM).
The federal delegation included Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak) Datuk Ts Mustapha Sakmud and several other federal ministers.
Sarawak was represented by deputy premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, and Datuk Amar Prof Dr Sim Hui Hian; while Sabah was represented by deputy chief ministers Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Jeffrey G Kitingan, Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun, and Datuk Ewon Benedick.
Fadillah emphasised that the Technical Committee would continue to play a key role in facilitating discussions and refining proposals before they are brought to higher levels for consideration under the MA63 implementation mechanism.
