MIRI (March 18): Police arrested a man on Monday for allegedly recording a video of a woman in the toilet of a supermarket here.
In a statement, Miri police said the suspect was arrested at around 2pm at Permy Technology Park.
“The suspect is currently being remanded at the Miri Central Police Station (CPS) lock-up to assist with investigations under Section 509 of the Penal Code for intending to insult the modesty of a woman and Section 377D of the Penal Code for gross indecency,” said the statement.
Miri police said any act that infringes on privacy and threatens public safety, particularly those involving women in public places, is viewed seriously.
“Firm action will be taken against those found committing such offences in accordance with the law,” added the statement.
