Man fined RM20,000 over unlicensed diesel possession in Kuching

KUCHING (Sept 23): A man was fined RM20,000, in default six months’ jail, by the Sessions Court here today for possessing 650 litres of diesel without a licence.

Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Sarawak director Matthew Dominic Barin said in a statement that the man was charged under Regulation 3(1) of the Control of Supplies Regulations 1974, read with Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961.

The diesel, worth RM2,509, was seized during Ops Tiris 4.0 (Integrated).

Sessions Court Judge Mursyida Abd Halim presided over the proceedings, while the prosecution was conducted by KPDN Sarawak prosecuting officer Dr Jong Jee Leong.

The court also ordered the proceeds from the sale of the 650 litres of diesel to be forfeited to the government, while the other exhibits were forfeited and disposed of by the prosecution.
