Man in Kuching who damaged dad’s properties, uttered threat fined RM3,500

KUCHING (Oct 9): A man was fined RM3,500 in default eight months in jail after pleading guilty in the Magistrates’ Court here today to charges of committing mischief and criminal intimidation.

Muhamad Nur Materang, 26, made the plea before Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali after the charges under Section 427 and Section 506 of the Penal Code were read to him.

The accused committed mischief by damaging a wooden door and plastic chair belonging to his father, resulting in losses of about RM200.

He also committed criminal intimidation by threatening to damage other properties belonging to his father.

Both offences took place at a house in Kampung Bintawa Hilir, Petra Jaya at around 6.15am on Oct 7, 2024.

According to the facts of the case, Muhamad Nur went into a rage after his father refused to give him money.

Following the incident, the father lodged a police report that led to the arrest of the accused on the same day.

ASP Arman Ibrahim prosecuted, while Muhamad Nur did not have legal representation.
