SIBU (March 18): TCCS Marine Sdn Bhd Training Institute (TCCS Marine) is targeting about 2,000 student enrolments this year, driven by growing interest in modern maritime training.
Its director of studies Captain Budyuzaman Abu Seman said the target reflected increasing confidence among parents and students in the institute’s credibility to produce a skilled maritime workforce.
“When we opened in 2024, participation was around 300 to 400 individuals.
“Last year, the number exceeded 1,000 participants and this year it is expected to reach about 2,000.
“The number of students has been increasing each year.
“We would also like to thank all parties who have supported us in boosting enrolment at TCCS,” he said during the institute’s ‘iftar’ (break-of-fast) event here on Monday, which gathered some 150 guests.
Budyuzaman expressed appreciation for the support from various agencies, particularly the Marine Department which had contributed to the smooth running of operations.
He stressed that the training syllabus must continuously adapt to current technological developments to ensure students remain relevant in the industry.
“Technology is advancing rapidly, and this requires students who are disciplined and possess a strong foundation of knowledge, particularly in safety aspects and AI modernisation,” said Budyuzaman.
He added that the institute emphasised integrating various disciplines so that graduates would not only be skilled in navigation, but also capable of carrying multiple responsibilities on board ships.
Also present was TCCS Marine managing director James Ho.
