Wilson Wei Sin Yeoh of Penang with 12.375 points and Muhammad Bariq Adif Mat Daud of Johor with the bronze 11.550 points took the silver and bronze respectively.
Head coach Liew Tong Ee said it was a good end to the competition which also saw Sabah win two bronzes in Sukma.
“We actually targeted one gold in Sukma and we successfully achieved it…we are very happy.
“Marvell is based at Bukit Jalil and trains under national junior men’s coach from Korea and local coach Saw Kin Kit.
“In all, I want to extend my gratitude to national coaches and also our Sabah coaches (Azri Omar, Mohd Zamri Din, Siaw Ling Thien and Abd Izzat Daniel Abd Rauf)…so much effort has been done since our first selection process back in December 2022.
“We will not stop here but to work even harder and again in December this year, we will start our first phase of team selection in preparation for the next Sukma,” he said when contacted.
Tong Ee went on to thank the Youth and Sports Ministry, Sabah Sports Council, Sabah Sports Board, Sabah Gymnastics Association, team manager Marilyn Buseong and parents.
The bronzes from artistic gymnastic were won by Addison Chang Sui Xin in the men’s Vault today as well as in the men’s Team event (Marvell, Addison, Jasley Lu Chun Min, Liew Jun Xiang, Leevan Savahi Moosom, Tyler Jordan Lajanty) last Wednesday.
