KUCHING, Sept 8: Limbang and Miri are currently under a Level 1 (Alert) for hot weather conditions, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In a statement today, MetMalaysia said Limbang, Telang Usan and Marudi districts have been classified as having hot weather conditions, with temperatures exceeding 35°C and reaching 37°C as at 4pm.

In other parts of Sarawak, Kuching and other districts are experiencing temperature up to a maximum of 34°C with downpour and thunderstorms in several areas.

MetMalaysia defines its hot weather alerts as Level 1 (Alert), where a maximum daily temperature reaches 35°C to 37°C for at least three consecutive days; Level 2 (Heat Wave) where the maximum daily temperature exceeds 37°C to 40°C for at least three consecutive days and Level 3 (Extreme Heat Wave) where the maximum daily temperature hits 40°C for at least three consecutive days.

On Aug 22, MetMalaysia has reported that all divisions in Sarawak will receive rain at an average level which is between 150mm to 350mm.
