MetMalaysia: Thunderstorms, heavy rain forecast for Sarawak, Sabah, Peninsular states until 6pm

KUCHING (Aug 26): Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are predicted to hit several places in Sarawak, Sabah and some Peninsular states until 6pm today, said the Meteorological Department of Malaysia (MetMalaysia).

In an alert issued at 3.10pm, MetMalaysia said Kuching, Samarahan (Simunjan), Sarikei (Pakan and Julau), Sibu (Selangau), Mukah (Dalat and Mukah), Kapit (Song) and Miri (Subis and Miri) in Sarawak are to experience the unpromising weather.

The department added that similar weather conditions are also expected to occur in West Coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Kota Belud) in Sabah.

Other affected areas included Pahang (Jerantut) and Johor (Mersing, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru), said MetMalaysia.
