KUCHING (Oct 28): The Defence Ministry (Mindef) Strategic Plan Programme 2024 at SK Serabak in Kampung Serikin near here on Sunday signified the national security agenda as a shared responsibility of all.

Launched by the Third Infantry Brigade, the initiative meant to strengthen the total defence concept, ‘Hanruh’, in Sarawak’s strategic locations.

Third Infantry Brigade Commander Brig-Gen Mohd Sauffi Omar, who officiated at the event, said every citizen plays a vital role in the national security ecosystem, especially in Sarawak.

“Active community involvement is important. This programme integrates a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach, covering welfare, education and health activities,” said Mohd Sauffi in a Mindef statement.

He added the programme creates a platform for dialogues between the military and the local residents, fostering a mutual understanding of contemporary security challenges.

“This initiative has the potential to serve as a micro-model for the ‘Hanruh’ approach, demonstrating the importance of military-civilian synergy in facing the complexities of today’s security landscape.”

In connection with the programme, a military assets exhibition and a career promotion session were also held.
