MIRI (March 3): The Miri Orthodox Buddhist Association has called on the public to help identify a man who stole offerings from the temple on Monday.
In a statement on Facebook, the association said the man stole incense donation money.
“We have reviewed our closed-circuit television (CCTV) recordings and images of the individual concerned have been captured,” said the association.
Describing the temple as a place of purity and spirituality, the association said the offerings were needed to support religious activities and the upkeep of the temple.
“The temple is a sacred space. The donation funds are pure offerings from devotees in support of the temple.
“We hope the community will stand together in safeguarding the dignity and sanctity of this place,” said the association.
It called on those with relevant information to contact the association via private message.
The association also reminded the public to uphold moral values and be mindful of the law of cause and effect, warning against acts driven by greed.
When contacted, an association representative said a police report would be lodged.
