MIRI (Oct 25): Some 150 students and teachers from SM Pei Min and SMK Chung Hua Miri undertook a ‘Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Experience and Practical’ course recently.
Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak Datuk Sebastian Ting, who treated the participants to a meal at Tanjong Lobang after the closing of the course, said he was happy to see students show interest in their learning experiences and future plans.
“Their enthusiasm during the course reflected the high interest of Sarawakian youths in technology and creative industry.
“It is important to note that a learning process that combines the creative industry and the latest technology could open more career opportunities for students, bringing more vitality to the future development of Sarawak,” he said in a statement issued in connection with the programme.
The Piasau assemblyman hoped that through more interactive activities such as the generative AI course, more students would be encouraged to explore new technologies, paving a wider path for their future.
In this respect, he pledged to continue his support for innovative learning activities and programmes that would allow students to learn more outside of the classroom, in order to enhance their competitiveness.
Additionally, he said it was important for the younger generation to understand that the combination of innovative technology and tourism industry could boost the future development of Sarawak.
“By pairing with technology, tourism experiences can be enhanced within the state with its rich cultural resources and unique ecological environment, attracting more domestic and international tourists,” he said.
