MIRI (Sept 28): The Miri teams representing Sarawak achieved a great feat at the National Robotic Competition 2024 finals.
The annual event, which recently took place at Dewan Tun Canselor of Multimedia University in Cyberjaya, Selangor, was organised by the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MoE) under the ‘High Impact Robotics and Stem Programme’.
Four teams from SMK Chung Hua Miri bagged three golds in the ‘Robomission Junior’, ‘Robosport’ and ‘Future Innovators’ categories, as well as one silver in the ‘Robomission Senior’ category.
They comprised Foong Kai Jie, Dexter Yong Shawn, Keith Lee Yee Hern, Jayden Yii Yang Zheng, Pau Thien Sheng, Hugo Lee Ye Yi, Yong Jia Hong, Shawn Ting Jun Hong, Bryan Lai Wen Le, Hera Lee Xi Le, Deborah Liau Song Ling, and Ashley Fung, along with mentors Justine Jimbai, Denny James Senawin, Yong Hong Then and Chien Chee Lin.
Meanwhile, three teams from IPG Sarawak Miri Campus took home one gold, one silver and one bronze medals from the ‘Robomission Rookie’ category, and another three teams hauled a gold, silver and bronze in the ‘Future Engineer’ category.
They comprised Lai Chaun Choy, Sii Tee Tee, Muhammad Fauzan Hakimi Ghazali, Alvin Kong Wei Ee, Tony Loh Li Jin, Ling Jun Hao, Desbriyani Maripa, Alicesier Meynna Wat, Aishwarya Melvyeaneys Lheng Gani, Pui Sin Ru, Jena Lee Zhi Jun, Edlyn Undah, Grace Tan Hong Hui, Anatashya, Gibson Ting Shi Qi, Raymond Ting Yih Wei, Angel Ting An Qi, and Jennifer Emilly Douglas, together with their mentors Dr Hu Laey Nee, Wong E-Mann, Dr Law Hui Haw, and Dr Norsarihan Ahmad.
Four teams from SMK Chung Hua Miri and two from IPG Sarawak Miri Campus will be representing the country at the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) in İzmir, Turkey, scheduled this Nov 28-30.
