KUCHING (Oct 6): The Productivity and Innovation Day 2024, organised by the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) Sarawak, gathered 100 participants to focus on the sustainable use of natural resources and raise awareness on environmental sustainability to enhance national productivity.
The event was held in connection with the Sarawak Public Service Innovation Month, with the theme ‘Green Transformation towards Productivity Enhancement’.
MPC deputy director general Dr Mohamad Norjayadi Taman highlighted that the concept of process efficiency and sustainable productivity is linked to green transformation efforts.
“The adoption of green technology and sustainable practices play a crucial role in optimising the use of resources and reducing environmental impact.
“These efforts support more efficient production processes and help the country achieve sustainable economic growth,” he said in his address at MPC’s premises here on Saturday.
Mohamad Norjayadi also noted that by minimising waste and maximising resource use, organisations can boost productivity by generating more output with the same input.
Among the activities held were a ‘Brisk Walk’, a Zumba session, a ‘Task@thon’, an exhibition, health screenings, and a talk conducted by Universiti Malaysia Sarawak’s Faculty of Engineering Dr Hazrul Mohamed Basri entitled ‘Green Transformation: Enhancing Productivity through Sustainability Principles’.
The event also marked the soft launch of the ‘Taman Lestari Produktiviti’ (Sustainable Productivity Park), which was officiated by MPC Sarawak director Dr Mazlina Shafi’I Mohamad Morjayadi.
The annual event gathered participants from various sectors, including industry representatives, state and federal departments, public and private agencies, as well as the public.
MPC Sarawak will continue to implement high-impact programmes and initiatives to stimulate the state’s economic growth by delivering future talent, embracing technology, promoting digitalisation, and enhancing quality regulatory delivery, so as to drive sustainable productivity growth.
