KUCHING, Oct. 4: Two police officers on patrol survived after the MPV of the Provincial Police Headquarters (IPD) Padawan was boarded when they collided with a car at Batu 11, Kuching-Serian Road, this morning.
Padawan District Police Chief, Superintendent Barry William said the incident occurred at about 10.10 am as the MPV was moving from Serian towards Kuching.
According to him, the accident occurred after a car moving from Kuching towards Serian entered the opposite route before colliding with the police vehicle.
"Both police officers rushed to help the victims in the car before contacting the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) as well as ambulances", he said in a statement today.
He said the two victims in the car were a 57-year-old man and a 73-year-old woman.
"Both victims were later referred to Sarawak General Hospital (HUS) for further treatment.
"No serious injuries were reported in the incident", he said.
The public is advised not to speculate on the incident, while any information can be forwarded to the Prawan IPD Motion Room at 082-862233 to assist in the investigation.
