MRCS service booth at BCF 2024 is highly appreciated

SIBU: The Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) Sibu branch, which has set up its voluntary first aid service booth during the Borneo Cultural Festival (BCF) 2024 held at Town Square here from Aug 8 – 17, has responded to four cases of first aid treatments in the past eight days.

According to the branch chairman, Penghulu Chua Hiong Kee, these cases mostly came from adult group due to a fall, which led the victims fell unconscious.

He told reporters this when met the MRCS’s first aid service booth on Thursday night (Aug 15).

According to him, one of the patients’ parents felt so much better after receiving the first aid treatment and even made a generous contribution to the Red Crescent. 

“I would like to say thank you very much for their appreciation,” he said, adding most of these cases were conveyed to him by the Voluntary Vigilante Corp (RELA) personnel on duty at BCF.

Meanwhile, BCF 2024 main organising committee chairman, Mohammed Abdullah Izkandar Roseley, who was also present, said he really appreciated the service provided by the MRCS for many years.

He was very pleased to note that as the first responder to any untoward happenings, MRCS has provided the most reliable services thus far.

“They provide genuine community voluntary service without asking anything in return.  It is good to have them around,” Izkandar, who is also the deputy chairman of Sibu Municipal Council said.
