Murum rep tops list of 513 recipients of Sarawak state awards

KUCHING (Aug 29): A total of 513 individuals including local dignitaries were bestowed various state awards during an investiture ceremony in Sibu today.

Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon topped the list of recipients, with the Darjah Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Sarawak Johan Bintang Sarawak (JBS) award, according to an Information Department report.

Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar presented the awards to the recipients during the ceremony held at Dewan Canselor Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud, University Technology of Sarawak (UTS).

Also receiving the JBS awards were Wan Junaidi’s private secretary Junih Salleh Ahmad and Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (Sheda) council member Law Siew Hie.

Tellian assemblyman Royston Valentine was bestowed the Darjah Utama Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Kenyalang Sarawak Johan Bintang Kenyalang (JBK) award.

The five recipients of the Pingat Pentadbiran Awam Pingat Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (PPC) award were Mukah Resident Kueh Lei Poh, Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) director Samuel Simon, Sarawak Agriculture Department director Dominic Chunggat, Sarawak Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) Welfare Trust chief executive officer John Kennedy Janang and Kuching Water Board general manager Rodzia Mohamad.

On top of that, 17 others were awarded the Pingat Perwira Negeri (PPN) Bronze, seven received the Darjah Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Sarawak Pegawai Bintang Sarawak (PBS) and 35 were awarded the Darjah Utama Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Kenyalang Pegawai Bintang Kenyalang (PBK).

Fifty-five others were bestowed the Pingat Pentadbiran Awam, Pingat Perkhidmatan Bakti (PPB) award followed by 90 others receiving the Ahli Bintang Sarawak (ABS) award, 58 recipients of the Ahli Bintang Kenyalang (ABK) award and 121 recipients each for the Pingat Perkhidmatan Terpuji (PPT) and the Bentara Bintang Sarawak (BBS) awards.
