KUCHING (Sept 7): The innovative inventions showcased at the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development’s (MYSED) Mini Convention for the Innovative and Creative Circle have the potential to be developed into valuable products, said its Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat.

He said all the inventions showcased have the potential to positively impact the ministry, and many of the designs could be utilised.

“This actually aligns with the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, inspired by the leadership of Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“We see that innovation and creativity are key elements, and they can drive our local economy to greater excellence and progress,” he said during the MYSED Mini Convention ICC Awards Night at Raia Hotel and Convention Centre here on Friday.

In this regard, he believed these innovations have the potential to lay the foundation for establishing a startup hub, provided the right mindset and support are in place.

He also suggested that the Seoul Startup Hub’s concept could be adapted locally to improve the products developed at the ICC, thus enhancing their quality and commercial viability through trademark registration and intellectual property protection.

“It is crucial these innovations become the intellectual property of the groups or ministry, allowing them to be marketed in the open market,” he said.
