SIBU (Oct 3): Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) will soon have its own administration building at Sibu Jaya Boulevard in Sibu Jaya, said chairman Sempurai Petrus Ngelai.
Upon completion of the new building and the new by-pass road linking Jalan Stabau-Jalan Kong Yit Khim to Sibu Jaya this November, he said SRDC would be able to streamline its operations for Sibu Jaya’s development.
“With all these in place, Sibu Jaya will become the main development hub for the central region of Sarawak in view of its population and business growth,” he said at the launching of AmBank Group’s ‘AmKasih Community Programme’.
The programme, held in connection with Sibu Jaya Book Fair, witnessed the handover of 500 books and reading materials from AmBank Group to the selected student recipients in Sibu Jaya.
Present at the event were Amcorp Group and AmBank Group executive chairman Tan Sri Azman Hashim and AmBank Group chairman Tan Sri Md Nor Yusof.
According to Sempurai, the council has been actively involved in Amcorp Group’s programmes from the hosting of its first Sibu Jaya Carnival in 2017 till the carnival’s current 6th edition.
“In line with Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s vision to make Sibu Jaya a vibrant and liveable town, this collaboration between SRDC, AmBank Group and Amcorp Sibujaya Sdn Bhd will benefit the community, especially those in Sibu Jaya and its surrounding areas,” he said.
On the AmKasih programme, Sempurai deemed it to be beneficial for the students and pledged the council’s continuous support.
