KUCHING (March 10): A 59-year-old physically challenged woman and her family are receiving basic food assistance from Hope Place Kuching.

Rohana Idris, who suffered from a stroke last year, has been wheelchair-bound for several months.

According to the non-governmental organisation (NGO), she has bedridden for several months after the stroke.

“Rohana also has diabetes, high blood pressure and hypertension.

“She is currently recuperating at home and is mainly cared for by her husband,” the charity group said in a statement on Monday following a visit to the family at their home in Batu Kitang.

Her husband, Zaidi, 64, is a retiree who takes up grass cutting jobs part-time to earn extra income.

The couple’s daughter, Atika, 23, is pursuing higher education at a local college.

With no stable income, the family also depends on Rohana’s son, who earns a modest income while supporting his family.

Hope place expressed gratitude to donors who continue supporting its efforts to assist underprivileged families.

“We thank all donors who constantly support us in providing aid to needy families like Rohana’s, especially during this holy Ramadan month,” it added.

Those wishing to contribute may contact Hope Place Kuching on 082-505987 or 013-5672775.

Donations can be made to its Maybank account 511289001160 or via the S Pay Global QR code available on its Facebook page.

Receipts will be issued upon request.
