MIRI (Sept 2): A total of 154 cyclists, including 10 from Brunei, took part in a ‘Night Fun Ride’ cycling activity hosted by the Miri Youth Association (PBM), held last Friday.

PBM chairman Matassan Rohani said the activity was run in connection with the National Day 2024 celebration, and meant to bring the local community together and instil patriotic spirits in them.

“This was an opportunity for us to celebrate the National Day celebration together regardless of our background, race, and religion.

“As there are more cyclists participating in this year’s event, it is evident that there is an increase of acceptance towards community cycling events,” he said, adding that the annual activity had been conducted for every year since 2022.

“The cyclists were flagged off at Saberkas Night Market, and concluded the ride at Miri city centre,” said Matassan.

On the association, Matassan said it was actively promoting its upcoming ‘Malaysia Day Run’, this Sept 16.
