Old Spaoh police station razed in afternoon fire

KUCHING (March 17): The old Spaoh town police station building in Betong was completely destroyed in a fire this afternoon.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from the Betong station were deployed after receiving an emergency call at 3.16pm.

“The building was used by Spaoh Bomba Volunteer Team and the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) as a storage place for goods,” Bomba said in a statement, adding that no casualties were reported in the incident.

The fire was completely extinguished and the operation ended at 4.43pm.
