KUCHING: Approximately 3,100 participants joined the Sarawak Bomba Run 2.0 2024 on Sunday.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) organised the event in collaboration with the Sarawak Fire Department Sports and Welfare Association (PESKEBS).
The Sarawak Bomba Run 2.0 2024 was officially flagged off by Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Tan Kai at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Square here.
The run includes five categories: a 3km family run open to participants of all ages, a 10km men’s competitive open run, a 10km women’s competitive open run, a 10km men’s veteran run for participants aged 45 and above, and a 10km women’s veteran run for those aged 45 and above.
All earnings will be donated to the Sarawak Association for the Welfare of Intellectually Disabled Children (PERKATA) and the Sarawak Society for the Blind Kuching, with each organisation receiving RM10,000.
The event featured various activities, including a mass aerobic warm-up session to energise everyone, exciting exhibitions by the Bomba showcasing their skills and equipment, complimentary health screenings provided by the Ministry of Health Malaysia, and many other engaging programmes.
Bomba director-general Datuk Ts Nor Hisham Mohammad and deputy director-general of Fire Safety Datuk Khirudin Drahman also attended the event.
