KUCHING (Feb 1): Loud cheers erupted from Stadium Perpaduan as the Animation, Comics and Games (ACG) Concert opened with a spectacular performance that blended enchanting orchestral arrangements with original soundtracks from beloved anime series.

The concert was further enhanced by a special appearance from renowned Japanese dance troupe and global phenomenon Avantgardey.

Drawing in audiences who shared a deep love for anime, the concert—organised by The Band Lab and supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts—featured live renditions from fan favourite soundtracks of world-famous anime such as ‘Haikyu!!’, ‘Demon Slayer’, ‘Spirited Away’, ‘Naruto’ and more.

The 60-piece orchestra and 50-piece choir were also joined by vocalists Dell Lawrence, Chien Ng, Christine Chai, Binyun, Su Shane and Talitha, as well as guest dancers from the Iris School of Ballet and Miya Dance Studio and guest choir Dolce Chanticleer—turning the concert into a true feast for both the eyes and ears.

Meanwhile, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah commended the success of the ACG Concert, and expressed his pride in the growth of Sarawak’s creative industry.

“My ministry will remain committed to supporting home-grown organisations that are instrumental in elevating our creative economy and fostering international diplomacy through the arts.

“We are proud to see that Kuching City has evolved into a vibrant stage for creative industry to thrive, and we look forward to more collaborations that will put Sarawak on the global map,” he said in his speech.

Also present were his deputy Snowdan Lawan and Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Nancy Shukri.
