KUCHING, Sept 27: Sarawak’s para throwers Chong Cheng Tat and Marshall Lu Canner have bagged two more golds today, ending their athletics team’s five-day campaign in the Para Malaysia Games (Para Sukma) XXI Sarawak 2024 with a total haul of 33 gold, 24 silver, and 37 bronze medals.

Chong emerged winner after throwing a distance of 19.02 meters in the men’s discus throw F34 event at the Sarawak Stadium here today, defeating Johor’s Muhamad Nazir Aliman to settle for silver with 15.36m and Kelantan’s Hazrin Che Hassan for bronze with 15.21m.

Meanwhile, Lu cleared a distance of 12.68m in the men’s javelin throw F33 event to secure the gold medal from Selangor’s Hilman Zafri Zulkifli, who took the silver with 12.66m and fellow Sarawakian Jeffery Anggai, who bagged bronze with 8.11m.

Additional medal harvests for the Sarawak’s athletics team today were one silver medal delivered by Khairulnizam Engkeh in the men’s long jump T37 and one bronze delivered by Tomson Lim Kok Hong in the men’s discus throw F37 event.

The Sarawak contingent placed second in the medal standings after Sabah won a total of 36 gold, 17 silver, and 18 bronze medals.

Johor is in third with 14 gold, 21 silver, and 16 bronze. — DayakDaily
