KUCHING (Oct 9): The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) and Malaysia Jombola Association, in collaboration with Sarawak Jombola Association, recently conducted the National Jombola Clinic at the Youth and Sports Department complex here.
It attracted 30 participants from Kuching and Samarahan.
The course was concurrently held in Perak, Pulau Pinang and Johor. It will be conducted in the remaining states by the end of year. The move to introduce the new sport to all states
was an initiative by Sukdev Singh who is the president of the Malaysia Jombola Association.
Sukdev was in Kuching to observe the clinic which was conducted by Sarawak Jombola Association head instructors Ahmad Rodzli Hashim and Dr Ong Kong Swee with three Sarawak-trained instructors over two days.
Sarawak Jombola Association president Kennedy Chukpai Ugon launched clinic and later presented certificates of attendance. The participants were given free rackets and balls to help in introducing the sport to the community and schools in Kuching and Kota Samarahan.
Chukpai also revealed plans by the association to conduct more clinics and competitions in Sarawak. These include the Sarawak Jombola (Bintulu) Competition from Oct 19-20 in conjunction with National Sports Month at Bintulu Stadium Muhibbah, Ministry of Education Malaysia Jombola Sports Clinic Course in UPM Bintulu for teachers from Sarawak and Labuan from Nov 14-16 and Jombola Competition in conjunction with Pesta Apau Koyan 2024 at Sungai Asap from Dec 12-14. The National Inter-State Jombola Competition will be held in Kuala Lumpur in May next year.
