THE overall physical progress of Petra Jaya Hospital is at 71.24 per cent completion as of April 27.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian said the project is now scheduled to complete in August 2025.
“Meanwhile, the construction of an additional block in Miri Hospital has been completed as of April 28 and scheduled to be handed over to the Department in July this year,” he said.
Dr Sim, who is also the Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government said that physical progress for the new Lawas Hospital is at 75.02 per cent and is scheduled to be completed in December this year.
“For the Nanga Kemalih Health Clinic in Sarikei, the fire safety requirement for the clinic has been completed.
“Inspection by Fire and Safety Department (BOMBA) Sibu was done on May 2 and is pending the rectification of BOMBA non-compliance.
“The clinic is expected to be operational by the second quarter once the BOMBA support letter for occupancy of the clinic building is issued,” he said.
He added that as of April 25, the physical progress for the Siburan Health Clinic is 99.42 per cent.
“The remaining work involved the connection of electrical supply and testing and commissioning works,” he said.
On a related note, he said that 76 per cent or 206 out of 271 health clinics throughout Sarawak are in poor physical condition.
“These include 175 health clinics, 20 community clinics, nine Maternal and Child Health Clinics and two village clinics,” he said.
For 2024, he said the Federal Ministry of Health (MOH) has allocated RM42.74 million for repair and upgrading works of health clinics in Sarawak.
“Of these, RM11.74 million is for upgrading, renovation and repair works, RM19 million is under dilapidated clinic budget and RM12 million for rural clinic services,” said Dr Sim.
