Police arrest four for operating unlicensed entertainment outlets in Kuching

KUCHING (Dec 14): Police arrested four individuals for operating entertainment premises without valid licences and permits during a raid conducted at three outlets here last night.

Kuching district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the operation was carried out at two premises along Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce and one along Jalan Padungan.

“During the raid at Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce, a total of 21 individuals were inspected at the first entertainment premises, while 15 individuals were inspected at the second premises.

“Police arrested two local men who were caretakers of both premises for failing to produce permits and for operating entertainment activities without a valid licence; several musical instruments belonging to the premises were also seized.

“At the entertainment premises on Jalan Padungan, a total of 26 individuals were inspected. Police arrested two local male caretakers for failing to produce permits and for operating entertainment activities without a valid licence,” he said in a statement.

Musical instruments belonging to the premises were also seized by the police.

Alexson said the police will continue to carry out monitoring and enforcement actions from time to time to ensure that all entertainment outlet operators comply with regulations set by the authorities.

He also advised all entertainment outlet operators in the district to obtain a valid public entertainment licence and to refrain from conducting any entertainment activities beyond the permitted operating hours.
