Pre-dawn fires damage trailer lorry and excavator

KUCHING: Two separate early morning fires wreaked havoc on a trailer lorry and an excavator on today (Jan 29), with no reported injuries in either incident.

According to a spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the fires occurred in Demak Laut and Asajaya.

In Demak Laut, firefighters from the Tabuan Jaya station swiftly responded to a distress call at 5.35am, rushing to Taman Sepakat Jaya.

Upon arrival, they found that the fire had caused extensive damage, affecting 80 per cent of the trailer lorry’s cabin. The extinguishing operation concluded at 6.06am.

Meanwhile, in Asajaya, firefighters from the Asajaya station were dispatched to Kampung Moyan Ledang on Jalan Asajaya-Tambirat following an emergency call at 3.12am.

The team confirmed upon arrival that the flames had inflicted significant damage, with 80 per cent of the excavator’s engine and driver seat affected. The firefighting operation concluded efficiently at 3.36am.

The cause of both fires is currently under investigation.
