KUCHING (Oct 29): The Sarawak Sustainability Blueprint focuses on green transition and economic equity meant to harmonise economic growth with environmental stewardship as well as uphold social equity, said Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
In his address at the Sarawak Sustainability Insights conference, he outline the blueprint’s role as a comprehensive roadmap that integrates environmental considerations into each development sector, ensuring inclusive progress for all Sarawakians.
“The Sarawak Sustainability Blueprint will serve as an overarching guide that aligns various initiatives across all sectors.
“It is crucial for us to adopt an integrated approach that not only address current challenges but also positions us to meet future demands and opportunities related to climate change and circular economy, amongst others,” he said.
He also outlined 10 strategic thrusts under the blueprint which aims to guide the state towards a sustainable future, comprising of energy transition; sustainable agriculture and food security; green mobility; circular economy; sustainable manufacturing; sustainable and responsible mining; protection and enhancement of natural assets; sustainable cities; community development; and eco-tourism.
“This blueprint not only addresses the current environmental challenges, but also proactively anticipates future needs related to climate resilience and green economy.
“By fostering synergies among the sectors, we can enhance our efficiency in resource planning and implementation, ensuring that every effort contributes meaningfully to our sustainability goals,” he added.
