SONG (Sept 29): Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has conveyed appreciation to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for channelling funds to the Regional Corridor Development Authority (Recoda).
According to Abang Johari, the funds are to be distributed to three agencies, namely Upper Rajang Development Agency (Urda), Mid Rajang Regional Development Agency (MIRRDA) and Rajang Delta Development Agency (Radda).
“The funds will be used to develop areas around Rajang Basin under the jurisdiction of the respective agencies,” said the Premier at the ‘Majlis Ramah Mesra Pemimpin Masyarakat Rumah Panjang Bahagian Kapit’ in Rumah Robert Ngumbang, in Nanga Sebatu here today, where Anwar was the event’s guest-of-honour.
Adding on, Abang Johari said he really enjoyed working together with Anwar, stating that they both had trust and confidence in each other.
“Ask anything, and he (Anwar) will give.
“The trust is similar to what I have in the people, who are giving their support to the state government towards developing our region,” said Abang Johari.
Separately, the Premier said the new bridge to be built across Batang Rajang at Nanga Yong here, symbolised the good connection between Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak.
Anwar had announced the approval for the bridge project during a function held earlier at Kapit Civic Centre. The Prime Minister, however, did not disclose the cost amount.
Meanwhile, Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, who spoke earlier, said the people in Kapit were lucky to be visited by both Abang Johari and Anwar.
“We need a stable government.
“We, in Kapit and Sarawak, under the leadership of Abang Johari have shown the true ingredient needed to develop our state, which is the unity of the people.
“Let us convince both our top leaders that we, in Sarawak, fully support them,” said Nanta, who is Kapit MP
Among those present were Sarawak State Secretary Dato Sri Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy Digital Minister Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong, Deputy Minister in Sarawak Premier’s Department (Native Customs and Laws) Datuk Jefferson Jamit Unyat, Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Sarawak Datuk Liwan Lagang, and also Watson Awan Jalai, a political secretary to Sarawak Premier.
