SIBU: The Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Women’s Wing Batang Ai Division will be the next host for the PRS Women’s Wing Datuk Seri Doris Sophia Brodie Futsal Cup next year.

Ngemah assemblyman Anyi Jana, who is also the host for this year’s tournament, expressed hope that it will continue to improve in the coming years.

He suggested that the PRS Women’s Wing organise futsal coaching courses to enhance the organisation of the tournament.

“The organisation of such courses will further boost and intensify the tournament, making it more competitive.

“I also know that some divisions are represented by experienced futsal players, so they are more skilled.

“However, there are others who lack exposure. Through these courses, they will gain more knowledge about futsal competitions and become more competitive,” he said.

He said this during a dinner with the futsal players of the PRS Women’s Wing 2024 YB Dato’ Sri Doris Sophia Brodie Futsal Cup tournament at a well-known restaurant here last night (Sept 13).

Meanwhile, PRS Women’s Chief Datuk Seri Doris Sophia Brodie said they would bring the proposal to organise the futsal coaching courses to their meeting.

“The suggestion (put forward by Anyi) has been received and can be considered by the PRS Women’s Exco. We will present the proposal during the meeting to discuss whether it can be implemented,” she said.

The Sri Aman MP added that the tournament serves as a platform for PRS women throughout Sarawak to meet and interact with one another.

A total of 15 teams competed in the futsal tournament, with the women’s team from Simanggang emerging as the champion, while the Senadin women’s team took second place, leaving the Balai Ringin women’s team in third place.
