Public stumble upon abandoned newborn boy in Lawas

MIRI (Oct 10): Members of the public in Lawas stumbled upon an abandoned newborn in an area in Trusan today.

Lawas police chief DSP Liong Tindan said police were alerted about 9.40am and sent a team to the location to investigate.

“The baby boy was later sent to Lawas Hospital for a check-up, which found him to be in good health,” he said in a statement, adding the case is being investigated under Section 317 of the Penal Code.

“Those with information relating to this case can contact investigating officer Insp Akmal on 011-58520868 or 085-284467, or any nearby police station.”

Liong also advised the public against speculating on the case so as not to jeopardise the investigation.
