KUCHING (March 4): The Magistrates’ Court here sentenced a man to a total of 24 months’ jail for punching his wife in the head after she refused to have sex as well as threatening to kill her and his in-laws.
Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan convicted Bong Jian Bin, 34, on his own guilty plea to two charges.
The first charge came under Section 323 of the Penal Code read together with Section 326A of the same Code for voluntarily causing hurt to his 31-year-old wife by punching her in the head.
The second charge came under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation by threatening to cause the death of his wife.
Mason ordered Bong to be imprisoned for 12 months for each charge, with the sentences to run consecutively.
Bong committed both offences at around 11.30pm on Feb 27, 2026 in their family home at Jalan Arang here.
According to the facts of the case, Bong had asked the victim to have sexual intercourse but she declined.
This angered him and an argument ensued, during which Bong pulled down his wife’s long pants and tried to have his way with her.
The victim resisted and kicked Bong, which further enraged him and led him to punch her in the head twice.
Still dissatisfied, Bong then threatened the victim, saying that if she refused to have a third child, he would kill her and her family members.
Fearing for their safety, the wife lodged a police report, which led to Bong’s arrest.
The investigation found that a medical report confirmed the victim sustained soft tissue injuries to the parietal region of her head, left cheek, and right hand because of the incident.
Deputy public prosecutor Muhammad Aidil Akmal Sharidan appeared for the prosecution, while Bong did not have legal representation.
