KUCHING (Aug 31): The Sarawak State Library (Pustaka Sarawak) in Petra Jaya here has unveiled its vibrant, new playground at Pustaka Park.
The new playground comes with four exciting sites, namely ‘The Adventurer’, ‘Tree House’, ‘The Wanderer’ and ‘The Explorer’, and ensures inclusivity and safety for children of all abilities, said Pustaka in a statement.
The safety features include using wood putty to cover all bolts and nuts, as well as the installation of rubber mats and artificial turf materials to ensure accessibility for children with special needs.
“The Adventurer features monkey bars, a climbing pole and swings for active play and exploration for children aged six to 12.
“Nestled in between two trees, the Tree House entices the children with its tree-climbing opportunities, hide-and-seek areas, slides and swing bridges, whereas The Explorer features a swing log bridge, a slide, and swings,” said Pustaka Sarawak.
It said The Wanderer includes a playhouse and a house bridge, designed for younger children aged between four and six.
“Each playground site is strategically located around the Pustaka lake area, ensuring a diverse and enjoyable experience for all young adventurers.”
In its commitment to providing a high-quality, inclusive and sustainable play environment that caters to the needs of all children, Pustaka Sarawak appointed the Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) in October 2022 for the project’s implementation and maintenance.
“Do bring your children to visit the playground at Pustaka Park and let them explore these exciting new features,” it added.
