SIBU: Six road infrastructure projects worth RM135 million are set to improve connectivity and accessibility for communities in the Ngemah area under the Mid Rajang Regional Development Agency (MiRRDA).
Ngemah assemblyman, Anyi Jana, said the projects, covering several key routes and resettlement areas, are currently at the design stage, with appointed consultants preparing for the construction phase.
The projects comprise the upgrading of the 1.2-kilometre Sedaya Ferry Road, six-kilometre Nanga Woh/Nibong Tada Road, 7.1-kilometre access road to the Nanga Jagau Resettlement Scheme (SPS), and five kilometres of roads within the SPS.
Also included are the upgrading of the six-kilometre Nibong Tada to Ulu Mapai Road and four-kilometre Temawai Sandung, Ulu Sungai Woh Road.
Anyi said this when officiating at the MiRRDA Outreach Programme Series 4/2026 at the Kanowit District Office Hall here on Tuesday (Sept. 22).
He said the projects were part of efforts to strengthen the road network in Ngemah while supporting the socio-economic development needs of local communities.
He added that agriculture development was also being supported through the Oil Palm Planting Assistance Programme and Livestock Assistance Programme aimed at improving the socio-economic well-being of residents.
Anyi also called on community leaders to play a more active role in resolving issues involving land status verification and ensuring residents’ information submitted to the District Office is accurate and valid.
He said accurate data was crucial to enable MiRRDA to plan development projects effectively before they were submitted to the Steering Committee comprising elected representatives from the region.
The outreach programme also featured briefings on agricultural development assistance, including the Oil Palm Planting Assistance Programme by Sarawak Agriculture Department’s representative, Nicholas Jati, and the Livestock Assistance Programme by Ling Embuas and Hasnul Abdullah Buyong.
